How to Unlock the LG Rumor Touch - VM510 from Virgin Mobile (possibly others)

By

Success!!
Success!!

Preface: Yes, this will get you the crown jewel, the SPC code to unlock your phone, which Virgin Mobile says they don't have, and LG says their contract won't allow them to give out. No, your phone doesn't have an MSL code. That's the same thing on a different type of phone. No, I don't care where you read it, trust me.

Step 1) Download and install the 'LGMobile Support Tool'. Next, follow the instructions, also found on the link below, to install the USB Modem Drivers:
http://au.lgmobile.com/web/web.suppo...reDownload.laf

Step 2) Download 'LG Download Pro' version1.6.0, then install it. (google is your friend!)

Step 3) Download the below file:
http://www.howardforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=67795&d=1284090429

Step 4) EXTRA STUFF: Download the first two linked files in the thread below if you plan on using this program for different phones.
http://cdmagurus.com/forum/showthread.php?1534-LG-Download-Dlls

Step 5) Extract then install the 9100 dll using 'VX9100 DLL.msi'. I found information to indicate that the 9900 dll would also work with this phone, but that didn't work for me. Install the other dll's at your prerogative, it certainly won't hurt anything. Also, I have had reports of the 9200, 10000 and 11000 dll being useful for programming the phone, but don't be a bit surprised if you get into trouble trying to do that!

Step 6) Just to make sure everything is properly installed, go ahead and reboot your computer now.

Step 7) Go to your Start Menu >> Programs and double-click on 'LGDownload'. Next, Click on the 'Select DLL' button. After the popup window appears, click on 'Tri Mode', then double click on the VX9100 dll. Click 'Ok' on the popup. Now, click on the 'NV Edit' button on the left hand side. LGDownload is now ready to do it's job.

Step 8) Plug the USB data cable for the phone into the computer (NOT into the phone, yet).

Step 9) You may find it useful to open up the Windows 'Device Manager' and expand the 'Ports' section. This will allow you to see when and for how long the USB modem port is actually connected (you will also notice the GPS port connecting, but don't try to use this port for our purposes here). Simply drag Device Manager down to the bottom corner while you are using the other programs in the top corner. I found conflicting information saying that you may need to set the port speed (Bits per Second) in the Device Manager AND the program to either 9600 or 115200. Mine worked set at 115200. Either way, it is DEFINITELY a good idea to make sure both are set to the same port speed (which is technically called the Baud Rate.)

Step 10) Now to prep the phone. We'll only have about 1 minute flat to do the next few steps, so be sure you have everything laid out and ready before you proceed. We are now going to 'time out' the phone, but it only lasts for about a minute at a time.

Method 1) Some folks recommend copying 999 or fewer mp3 files to your SD card then opening the built in Media Player. Some people just copy the same mp3 file over and over again until they have 999 of them. (If you have 1000 or more mp3s on this phone, it will ignore you. If you already have a dozen ringtones and etc. on the phone, best stick with 900 or so.) This will 'time out' this phone for a minute or two.

Method 2) Another method I discovered is to download a nice big World Map pdf file, then open it with the Document Viewer and zoom in on it repeatedly. Once you zoom in far enough, the phone will 'time out' for about 1 1/2 minutes. These first two methods really drag the phone to a grinding halt though, and you may or may not have enough 'horsepower' left over to complete the tasks below. I recommend the third method:

Method 3) The third method I use, is to add about a hundred or so txt and pdf files under a folder named 'eBooks' on the SD card. Next, simply open the 'Document Viewer' under the Tools menu. The phone will ignore everything else you do for about a minute or so, but the phone isn't actually doing much at all, so you'll have plenty of 'horsepower' to finish up.

Pick one of the three methods and proceed immediately to the next step.

Step 11) Now, plug the USB cable into your phone.

Step 12) After a few seconds, you will notice the 'Phone Status' bar in the LGDownload program start to fill up with information (if you've done everything properly up to this point). Once that is finished, you will notice the big 'NV Edit Start' button in the center switch from being 'grayed out' to being black and selectable. Click it!

Step 13a) A pop up window will appear asking for the Service Program Code. Of course, we don't have it yet, because that is what we are trying to get. DON'T TYPE ANYTHING! Simply click the 'Ok' button, and cross your fingers. You should see a brief popup saying that it is 'Enabling DM Mode', immediately followed by saying that it is 'Reading NV RAM'. If you picked the third method above, it should proceed very quickly and finish in a few seconds. If you picked one of the other two methods, it may take a while, and may not finish at all. You may need to repeat steps 10-13 a MINIMUM of 20 times or more before it completes.

Step 13b) Ta-Da! You should see a new popup window. In the 'Security Information' screen, SEC_CODE should have your 6 digit SPC code listed. You can double check on the 'System' tab, find the entry listed as 'Service Programming Code'. This should also list your SPC Code. You rock! Stick your finger in the air and curse at Virgin Mobile! Now, proceed to step 16.

Step 14a) ONLY IF you get stuck after clicking 'Ok' for the SPC code, you may need to reset the 'Password'. The recommended way to do this is to download and install the cracked 2.7 version of CDMA Workshop:
http://cdmagurus.com/forum/showthrea...ull=1#post6280

Note that if you are doing this professionally, or need more flexibility and features, you should pay for and download the full current version here:
http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop.html

Note that the 'Crack' for CDMA Workshop 2.7 sets off some virus scanners. It's perfectly safe, just tell your virus scanner to ignore it, or shut it off until you're done. Either way, restart your computer (once it's installed) then go to Start Menu >> Programs and double click on 'CMDA Workshop' (note: If you do NOT restart your computer, you WILL need to close LGDownload in order to disconnect it from the USB Modem port). Repeat steps 10-11 above to 'time out' the phone again and keep the modem port open for about 1 minute. Immediately click on the 'Port' selector and select the port the phone is using (probably around port 5-9, mine uses port 7 for the USB modem, and port 8 for the GPS port) Click the 'Connect' button, then the 'Read' button. If everything is working properly, the 'Phone Information' bar will fill itself in shortly. Now click on the 'Security' tab, then click on the 'Custom Password' selector. Type '0000000000000000' (sixteen zeros) into the field, then click the 'Send' button.

Step 14b) If you are feeling lucky (this next bit didn't work for me), still using CDMA Workshop, click the drop-down box under SPC, then select 'LG Method' and click the 'Read' button. If that gives you your SPC code, skip to step 16 below. If not, close CDMA Workshop (or at least click the 'Disconnect button on the 'Main' tab), then go back to step 7 and proceed through step 13 to give it another shot.

Step 15) Still no luck? Go back to step 7 and this time select VX9900 dll (of course, you need to have installed it earlier). It didn't work for me, but good luck. Still no luck? I dunno, hit up Google for 'SPC Calculator'. Supposedly there's an LG one, but I never found an SPC calc that worked for me (for this phone). You could try any of the other dll files, but none of the other ones were recommended. On the far-fetched end of the spectrum, you could find and try either the Qualcomm Phone Support Tool package, (QPST) or the LG version, LGNPST. I had limited success even getting these to talk to the phone, but best of luck! There's a wealth of information in the CDMA Gurus forum, and the Howards forum.

Step 16) Once your phone decides to stop ignoring you, click 'No' and close whatever other programs you had running. Once you're back to the stupid red 'Home' screen, push the little 'Phone' button to bring up the dial pad. Dial ##port# (##7678#) Ooo!! Cool secret stuff.. Now, type in your SPC Code (the phone says 'Enter Service Code'). Almost done. Click where it says 'DM Mode Enable' This will switch the USB port from being used to connect the phone as a removable hard drive, to using the USB modem port and GPS port whenever you plug the phone into your computer. If you want to switch your phone back to being a removable hard drive, simply repeat this step, except this time select 'UMS Mode Enable'.

You're done!! Good job! Now you can change settings, view your file system, tether your phone to your computer as a modem, unlock the phones firewall.. The possibilities are endless!! At least until you do something STUPID and crash your phone like a computer with a nasty virus. This is commonly known as 'bricking' your phone. After that point your phone is not useful for anything other than being a paperweight, or possibly as a brick in a wall. So.. do NOT go doing a bunch of crazy stuff on your phone until you find specific instructions on how to do it, and read up on other people who followed those instructions without turning their phone into a brick!

I just opened the seashell, it's up to you guys to go out there and dig for pearls!

Grogon,

GREAT work. How do you view the rumor touch file system? Thanks!

Crogon 20 months ago

Two methods I've found so far are using BitPim or EFS Explorer in the QPST package. I'm thinking there's a better solution with more features somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.

DS 20 months ago

OK...thanks!

dakky 20 months ago

so after doing this will my phone still work without switching it back to the other mode

Crogon 20 months ago

Absolutely. In this mode, you can even still receive phone calls! :D

You can always switch back to the other mode when you're done. Also, I've noticed when the phone restarts, it's automatically in the 'removable hard drive' mode.

danatheteacher 20 months ago

Hey! Great first hub! Keep it up!

danatheteacher 20 months ago

So, Crogan, how exactly do you browse the file system once you've done this (maybe another good hub idea?????)-Seriously though, do you use a program of is there a way to use the Regular file manager in Windows?

dakky 20 months ago

so i wana take the prl from sprints lg rumor touch think i can do that with the prl write option on this program

Crogon 20 months ago

Thanks so much Dana! I just answered that a couple of posts above yours. ;)
Two methods I've found so far are using BitPim or EFS Explorer in the QPST package. I'm thinking there's a better solution with more features somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.
..I'm still looking for something better. :P ..and no, you can NOT see the native file system in Windows Explorer. Period. That's why this is such a major step forward in wrestling this potentially awesome phone out of Virgin Mobiles' death-grip. :)

dakky - There are people testing just that in Howards and CDMA Gurus right now. ..NOT using LGDownload and the 9100 dll though. If I were you, I'd read up in both forums and figure out who's tried what without bricking their phone yet. ;)

danatheteacher 20 months ago

@Crogan, well, if you ever get a wild hair, I would appreciate a hub written with some instructions on how to do this with Bitpim or the EFSexplorer. Or do you have any good links to any other tutorials.

jasonaran 20 months ago

the lg site wont let me download the mobile tools.

Crogon 19 months ago

Dana - You probably won't find instructions for this phone in particular. I would recommend browsing through Howards and CDMAgurus forums on the use or either program.

Jason - Try to clear your cache and cookies? Try a different browser? I just verified that the download still works for me, so I'm not exactly sure what issue you are having.

gabriel 19 months ago

i having a hard time finding out the lg download pro, i cannot download it, would you sent a file, or a new url to download it?

Crogon 19 months ago

Well, I got my copy from the CDMAgurus.com forum, but like I said, google has tons:

http://www.google.com/search?q='LG+Download+Pro'

Sam 19 months ago

Thanks!

I've also been trying to figure out how to tether it to my (jailbroken) iPod Touch via bluetooth... no success yet though, both devices are annoyingly locked down

ellen 19 months ago

are there drivers for osx?

Crogon 19 months ago

Sam - I read something about that earlier, Under the Menu in Settings somewhere, there's a setting to tell the bluetooth on the rumor touch to 'Accept all connections' or something like that. If you enable it, it let's FTP work over bluetooth. you might try that to get it to tether to your ipod.

However, the sprint Rumor Touch needs an app to tether, I'm not at all sure how far you're going to get trying to tether it until that gets patched up.

Ellen - Not that I'm aware of, I would check the English or Australian LG websites / forums. Might even try to email them. Sprint might have some as well. Virgin Mobile certainly doesn't want you to have them, so don't bother calling them. If you have a newer machine, you could try a WIndows Emulator with Windows XP. Good luck!

Mark 19 months ago

I tried to do this but the pdf and mp3 trick both do not work. My phone loads them with no problem and quickly. The phone doesn't get stuck

Sam 19 months ago

I copied about 980 mp3s (a four minute song if it matters) into the micro sd card's root folder. It took about 5-6 tries, but it worked.

Crogon 19 months ago

Sorry Mark.. did you try to download a big old map PDF file and zoom in on it?

My only other suggestion would be to go download a bunch of java applets that are not meant for this phone, and find one that locks the phone up. That could take a while though, out of the 300ish I downloaded, I only found 4-5 that locked the phone up. ..of course I was trying to find stuff that actually worked, so..? Good luck! :D

Sam 19 months ago

Well, I'm returning my rumor touch and getting an intercept... if they have them at my Target.

Van 19 months ago

how do i set up my modem? after unlocking it.

brents blog 19 months ago

can this world for an ipad or you just talking about a laptop

it would be cool if they would just let everyone do this

or just access a small fee it would be much easier

Sam 19 months ago

I know one of the steps.

You need to jailbreak your iPad and install iBluever (or the demo) from cydia.

I never figured out how to set up the phone's end.

Crogon 19 months ago

Tethering the phone to act as a modem for your computer is NOT cracked yet. Research continues at howardforums.com and cdmagurus.com

Thanks for asking!

Thennarasu 19 months ago

Hi Crogon

Thanks for the wonderful article. But this phone is cdma so no way i can use this phone with GSM networks right ?

Thanks

Elizabeth 19 months ago

The bottom line here (for me) is that you can't turn the Romor Touch into something it wasn't meant to be. It's NOT an Android or an iPhone. If you want shortcuts on the home screen or Android-style apps, then you need to get a different phone.

The RT is good for basic email, browsing the internet, texting and social networking. If you want to do online banking, scan barcodes, download email attachments or add widgets to your home screen, then this is not the phone for you.

My post is relevant since someone here mentioned buying the Intercept. It's available at Target, as I bought one a week ago.

mucus 19 months ago

Thanks Crogan this really worked for me!

I went the route of loading up 999 mp3 files (.txt file renamed to .mp3).

The lg downloader froze, but continued in the background.

I am trying to tether the phone, but running into difficulty.

I have installed Bitpim, but I don't know what this is supposed to be doing, I can't browse any of the file system.

Anyhow, thanks for the guide!

Crogon 19 months ago

Thennarasu - Correct. I don't think that there is one, but you would need to find a version of the Rumor Touch that already has a GSM radio installed in it. It's a hardware thing.

Elizabeth - It is not an Android, however it is VERY close. It shares the the same OS with the Android. It's feasable that we could eventually get Android apps running on this phone, if not Android itself. Furthermore, or all of the things you list ARE currently available for download. Well.. except apps on the homescreen, but the older version of this OS had them on the home screen, so that should be pretty simple to hack in.

mucus - You are very welcome. If you really want to make progress with tethering the phone, I would suggest coordinating your efforts with others on one of the forums. I wuoldn't be a bit surprised if a handful of people have figured out how to do it, but aren't telling others how. :P

Mamba 18 months ago

I did every step right, I went the third route. The phone times out and everything but my LG Download won't recognize it once I insert the data cord, what am I doing wrong?

Crogon 18 months ago

Mamba - Use the 'Device Manager' as described in Step 9 to make sure you have the drivers installed properly. If they are, then check that you have 'VX9100 DLL.msi' installed properly. LG download can't talk to your phone without those two things installed and working. Good luck!

metal 18 months ago

i couldn't get lgdownload to recognize any ports. when i click ports in the window drop down it says "com port not found"

thanks for all your help crogan!

I don't understand 16... Do I dial on my phone? Do I write to my phone... I need a helping hand. I've got my code and I also saw A #777. Do I use that? I also used the VX9800.Dll on my LG 510. Can someone walk me the rest of the way. The LG program is still open and I'm attached to the pc via usb cable... Now do what with what? I have the service code.

great work

Prashanth Srinivas 17 months ago

hey crogon , i just wanna know if this is for using this phone with another sim. Im buying this phone from CA n i will be using this for my vodafone sim in India. So can i follow these steps to release the sim lock or is it for something else. SORRY if i sound like a noob. Really need your help.

acmenomis 17 months ago

does the size of the sd card matter? 100 pdfs in 'ebook' but phone only stays frozen for a few seconds.

Crogon 17 months ago

metal - I assumed you used my suggestion to figure the ports out??

LilDaddi100 - I haven't looked into it. There USED to be a version you could hack into phones, I think adobe ditched it though. Google is your friend!!

Randygates - I THINK you're ready for step 16. If you have your 6 digit SPC code, you click the little 'Phone' button on your phone to make a phone call. then you DIAL # # P O R T #

After that you'll get a new window pop-up, follow the rest of step 16, and you're home free! :D

Prashanth - Ummm.. These phones don't have a sim card. DOes the Sprint version have one maybe?

Anyway, this WILL allow you to unlock the CDMA modem and stuff in the phone, and upload one from a different provider. Provided of course it will work in this phone. ;)

acmenomis - Shouldn't matter. Basically, we're giving the phone too many things for it to get them all done. Try the three methods listed above. If they don't work, scratch your head and try something else. Maybe opening a 2.5 gb jpg file would work, but nobody tried it.

Good luck!!

I´m trying to program the values for a different company but the phone keeps on searching signal but never finds it. I am outside the US and I am trying to make it work with a PCS company

Any advice? (I used the 9100 dll)

ConGie 16 months ago

Well it took awhile, but I have found that method three works best for the newer versions of the phone, and now I'm FREEEEEEEEE!!!! AHAHAHAHA!!!!! Now THAT is what I call Freedom of service! Thank you so much for figuring all this out, you are the best person alive right now. I wish I had a paypal to donate with, but I don't even have a bank account, sad right? If it helps at all, I know a website that you could use to win stuff on, it's called swagbucks. That's the best I can give you in return =( Thank you thank you thank you!

Gingerman 15 months ago

I am not seeing any COM ports listed in either the Device Manager or LGDownload even with the phone plugged in. In fact, there isn't even a 'port' list in my Device Manager. :P Is there a work around available?

nerd1 15 months ago

ok ive read the entire process here and im stuck. i got the vx9100 Dlls and the LG mobile support tool. it says google is your friend for getting LG Download pro 1.6 but every site i go to on google wants me to signup and pay a membership fee. other torrent sites have 0 seeds so its looking impossible to find the free download. can anyone tell me where they got to download it from fo free please. much appreciated everyone thanx

siddownshaddap 15 months ago

Has anybody had any luck getting this procedure to work on a Virgin Mobile LG Rumor2? I'm about to try (using the 999 MP3 file method). I'll post again with my success/failure story.

Crogon 15 months ago

Francisco, Akash - CDMAgurus have guys that do that for a living lurking in the shadows, try there. If you're polite about it, someone will help you. ;)

Gingerman - Um.. If you aren't seeing the ports when you plug the phone in EITHER

1) Another program is grabbing the ports when you try to plug the phone in. Palm / Blackberry / Windows Mobile MAYBE?? Probly something YOU installed.

2) You don't have the drivers properly installed. Uninstall it, then try to re-download and install them again.

Nerd1 - It IS at the sites I mentioned, and GOogle has like 19 thousand results. Give this a try:

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=q=lg+download+pro+1.6.0+downl

SidDown - Different methods are used for the Rumor 2. As I recall much simpler methods. Check CDMAgurus as well. :)

I did all the steps. went with rout 3. The LGDownload seems to freeze and then the phone reboot's What am I doing wrong?

Justin M 14 months ago

Thanks! I successfully broke "free" (whatever that means) using the Media Player method described above.

Now, what did I actually break free of? I thought it would allow me to connect via USB like a normal device & also download the latest firmware that LG says is available for the phone, but I still have to do the Media Player method to get the PC to connect to the phone. Also, the LG Download sees an update, downloads it, but said it can't be installed due to some generic, poorly worded "fatal error".

So what can I now do that I couldn't before? What's unlocked?

magz 14 months ago

just too complicated... go buy a 'real' phone for all that stuff!!

Cee64E 13 months ago

An excellent Article, very informative. I used the mp3 method since I already had a load of music in there. I did have trouble finding the LG9100.dll.msi file at CDMAgurus. The file there but the downloaded file is password protected and the holder doesn't seem very fond of noobs, something I very much am with phones. I was able to find the dll at http://vmtouch.freeforums.org/how-to-unlock-the-lg (Google is your friend) Now I'm going to lurk the forums and see what I can do with this new-found power.

If anyone wants to see what this process looks like, check out http://www.youtube.com/user/j3rk1982#p/u/3/ND9XX_TZtQU. He goes through it in the video. Very helpful

Thanks again

Crogon 13 months ago

Mat - You should be able call to Sprint and tell them you want your unlock code. ##port# MAY not work on the Sprint phone, check around and see if you can find commands for the Sprint version.

Melsmeg - Try rebooting your computer after you've installed them. If anything COULD interfere with these drivers, I would expect some other mobile device first. Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Android, etc. Try uninstalling all of that sort of stuff, then installing these drivers.

Patito - There is a method use FTP over bluetooth.. I don't think that's going to help you with this though. Dig around at your local Wal-mart or Target or..? You should be able to find and use any DATA cable with the proper connections. If you find one that says it is for charging only, that will NOT work.

eXecute - Um.. are you using the correct driver?? Did you reboot your computer after you installed everything? It sounds like your phone is crashing. Maybe try one of the methods that doesn't time out your phone quite so badly.

magz - Complicated isn't the point. The point is Virgin Mobile took a phone with TONS of potential and crippled it. This lets you unlock it, then you can do all sorts of other cool stuff to un-cripple it. :)

EVERYBODY - Note that part of Cee64E's link is not blue? Cut and paste the link to see the correct 'How to' video. ;) Thanks for the link Cee64E, that should help some people.

Ok so I did cheat and set up my drivers, downloaded my files, set up my internet connection, recognized the modem and phone~then BAM I didnt know what to do when my computer was actually dialing my LG Rumor Touch...thats where I got without all the great help here! It wasnt as complicated as it seems as I didnt have to do half of these steps. Now I got whacked and have to fill my VOID of a brain lol and greatly appreciate the fill ins my brain didnt compile on its own. I think I did good though! I hope when I return the tethering will have begun! I will let you all know hopefully sooner than later=) thanks guys from a small Geek!

Ian Wilson 12 months ago

I found a much easier way. Log in to vm's website and paste this URL in https://www1.virginmobileusa.com/myaccount/login.d

look in the "com.vmu.web2003.common.bean.AccountInfo" row, and it gives out the msl code (which is the same as my spc code)!

I need help. I don't see a GPS port in device manager because there isn't a bluetooth port on my pc. There are only COM and LPT ports. Can I still get this to work? I have tried installing five different LG drivers but the support tool and the download tool do not recognize my phone. I can connect my phone to my pc ok but not with the tools. I have an 8gb microSD and it doesn't have trouble reading big files. Can someone link me to a .rar with all the files that will time-out my phone? Or is there an easier way to get the spc? I have a v8 so I need to unlock my phone to replace the original apps (like tetris) with a third party app (like spore). Is there some sort of unlocking prevention on the v8? I haven't activated my phone yet because I want to know if I can get third party apps on it before I pay for it that way I can return the phone without losing money.

Okay I got CDMA and the download tool to read my phone. The problem is that it won't give me my SPC. It says that enabling DM mode failed. You mentioned to reset the password. Will it damage my phone if I do this? Should I wait until my phone is activated? I used the VX9900 dll and advice from "dkg---" to get it to work btw: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1670973

flerp 8 months ago

I did it! I did it! Hurray! I reset the password with cdma, lg mode did not work but lg download worked when I selected VX9100 as the dll. I got the spc and I am quite satisfied. THANK YOU. Now to browse through the file system and see if bitpim will work ;) btw, time-out worked every single time I tried with the above method. It only took about 45 sec to read it so I suggest fast clicking for anyone else.

Hey, what is up guys So I have read everything on this page, but I am still wondering what you can actually do with the phone unlocked. I just want to know if all this work is even worth unlocking the phone. I am also curious if any of you have any earthly idea as to how to tether the phone. I would really appreciate any links or responses. Thanks for all the help and keep up the hard work.

Found best method above. Don't follow any other directions.

Log in to vm's website and paste this URL in https://www1.virginmobileusa.com/myaccount/login.d

look in the "com.vmu.web2003.common.bean.AccountInfo" row, and it gives out the msl code (which is the same as spc code)!

Enter in phone ##7678#

Then your msl/spc code.

Success!

I have better solution! For most CDMA handsets better program is "DFS Tool". www.cdmatool.com - here the new version. It has more functions than others. It will help you to solve many problems because it is professional tool. How to use you can read on their site or to see video on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHLP-ZUqIbY

I've tried copying the text files and music files, and nothing is "freezing" my phone. Am I doing something wrong?

projectisaac 4 months ago

Serenity, I have version 8 of the firmware, and I was able to get this to work:

I had (have) approximately 450 mp3 files already on my memory card. The trick to getting the phone to "freeze" is to click on "All Songs" in the media player menu. Once you do, you'll notice the phone takes some time to 'load'.

During this loading time, the phone is essentially frozen, and it allows for the LGDownload tool to take information from your phone (because this doesn't last too long, you will need to unplug your phone, back out of "All Songs", go back into "All Songs", andplug your phone back in).

It took me 5~6 plug-unplug cycles to get the NVEdit button to 'un-gray'. Once you click it, you need to be fast and press OK. Then it should take care of the rest for you.

Also, once you have your phone unlocked, this is a good place to look for info on what to do.

http://cdmagurus.com/forum/showthread.php/3716-LG-

NOTE: when I used BitPim, I had to use the phone model "LG-VX9100 (enV 2)". I believe the COM port is the one listed as a serial port, not the modem.

I feel as if I'm better off just paying for ringtones, because boy does this look complicated... I doubt I have the patience for all this. But hey, I know I may be sounding rather lazy and stupid, but it's a great thing you've done. I hate virgin mobile for this, but I can't complain about the monthly costs. If I ever get the time to "JailBreak" my LG Rumor Touch, I'll be sure to use these instructions. I did read all the steps btw. But once I got to step 10, man that felt really overwhelming. You guys got something in yah, and It seems that something is paying off. Nice! :)

can anyone help me get to LG Download Pro? Despite Crogon's insistence it's on Google, it is not downloadable.; Links are either gone or send you to weird sites that require you to enter cc. Does anyone have it that can zip and email it to me? thx.

Crogon 6 weeks ago

Nwtrev, cdmagurus should have a copy if you ask around. I;m sure there's probably a new version I don't know about yet too.

Joei 5 weeks ago

Uhm, I've done the process correctly and have gained my SPC code...

Should I look on CDMAgurus for how to access the filesystem or is there a hubpage for it?

snicka 4 weeks ago

so if after i get my unlock code and unlock the phone, does it mean i can browse the web, text, call all for free? with no charge?
